Day 15
The second harvest of carrots was ready today, and so once again the entire morning was spent harvesting and watering. There is plenty of time to replace the carrots, but I have worked so hard in the fields so far this season that I think I will give it a rest. The rest of the day was spent on the usual farm tasks and the never-ending foraging before I took some time out in the evening to tidy up the growing area.

Unfortunately, even as I went to go into bed at 10pm, I suddenly realised that I had neglected to feed the animals! Cursing my stupidity, I had to quickly rush out and make sure they were all fed, before finally collapsing into my bed. Continue Reading »

Day 1
Another autumn is here, and as if to herald the beginning of this new season, it was raining today. Nonetheless, despite the prospect of getting drenched, there were many tasks to attend to today, and so I forced myself outside into the pouring rain.

After the animals had been attended to, I decided to head into town to make all the necessary preparations for the season. After foraging around outside his house (autumn is such a good season for foraging, and I intend to take full advantage of it no matter how late I have to stay up), I tried to call in on Gotz to ask about the hothouse, but he wasn’t in- will I ever get this damned hothouse ordered? Day 16
Some of the corn was ready today, so after the watering was complete I went over to Kai’s place to give him some. In return, he told me how to make Popcorn, and to further apologise for not having any corn yesterday, I bought a Snowcone from him.

Since I felt generally lacking in energy today, I just pottered around the farm doing the usual tasks and planting the last few bags of grass seeds.

Day 1
The hot summer days are finally here, and with them, my enthusiasm for working in the fields has returned. Whilst everyone else attended the Opening Day festival, I once again chose to skip it in favour of getting started in the fields. Planting my Pineapple and Pink Cat seeds took most of the day, but in the evening I made sure to head up Mother’s Hill and pick up some of Popuri’s beloved Pink Cat flowers. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, she was already in bed, but I will give them to her in the morning.

Day 16
Now that Barley’s dog is pregnant, he has brought Potato back to me; I’d like to say I missed him, but that would be lying.

The cabbages were ready today, but unfortunately, since a new batch would take 15 days to grow, there is no longer time to grow another batch- I will have to wait for next year. The watering will at least be less time intensive now, but I realise that I won’t be able to ship enough cabbages to make the supermarket want to stock Strawberry seeds. Ah well, maybe next year. Day 1
And so it begins…again. With the snow and ice having magically melted overnight, I really wanted to get stuck into farming today, but unfortunately, nowhere was open due to the New Year’s Festival. I did try to attend the Festival, but after I spent two hours hanging around waiting for others to turn up, I got bored and went off to collect flowers from Mother’s Hill (this season I can start giving Popuri free Trick Flowers and Moondrop Flowers) before whiling away some time in the mine (the winter mine is closed now, but I will always have a feeling of fondness for the spring mine). It was only after I went to bed that I realised that the festival was in the evening, and thus I had missed it. Oh well, who needs to make friends at festivals when I can win them over with endless gifts picked up off the ground? Continue Reading »

Day 16
Married life has begun, and despite the constant presence of Popuri in my house, little else has changed. After completing the farm tasks (Coriolis was in a sour mood after not being fed yesterday, but all the other animals seem happy), I made sure to prepare four spa-boiled eggs for my wife, before heading out to purchase another sheep (Gondola) and retrieve Baskey. Day 1
I woke up today to find the entire town blanketed in snow; whilst this means I can ignore crops for a while, it just highlights how depressing this season truly is. Even the lake has frozen over, although this does permit access to the Winter Mine, a place where I can gather the rare and valuable Orichalcum and Adamantite ores.

Today has been about more than mining, however, for in between trips to the mine, I went to town to ask Saibara to turn some Orichalcum into jewellery for Popuri (1000G is now nothing to me), before heading to the inn to order the whisk from TV shopping. On the way back, I stopped into Yodel farm to purchase my first sheep- Zonetrae. My barn is now getting quite full, but I dare not allow the animals outside in this weather. Continue Reading »

Whilst Anton I toils away in the world of Back to Nature, his descendant (in spirit if not in fact) Anton II has just set up a farm in Forget-me-Not Valley. With an updated game engine for a newer generation of game consoles, what challenges will Anton II face as he tries to get his farm in working order?

When I first loaded Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life (AWL), my father’s friend Takakura introduced Anton II to his farm, and asked if he would like to try farming. Being the contrary person that I am, I decided to reply in the negative, expecting him to try to persuade me to give the right answer as happens in most games; instead, I got what must be the fastest game over in the history of the PS2. Day 16
How could I have tempted fate by asking if life could get any worse? Thanks to the wasted day yesterday, today I was rushed off my feet; first I had to harvest the sweet potatoes before heading off to Popuri’s house to give her the daily flowers, then I stopped into Yodel Ranch to buy a second cow, Colbrech (I wanted to call her Colbrecht but apparently that name is too long), for my now immense barn. Once that was complete, I finally remembered to buy 12 bags of grass from the Supermarket, before heading to the vineyard to help out again. I was ready to work at 3:40pm, but they would not let me in until 4:50. Nonetheless, I managed to pick eleven bunches of grapes- almost twice as many as yesterday- but still Duke was not happy with me. Continue Reading »
