I've played the game itself so I was very impressed by how well the anime managed to integrate all the different threads/routes into a fairly coherent whole. Personally I thought Rin's final choice was appropriate though it was a tad rushed. Certainly that girl's particular hangup was unnecessary and somewhat frustrating but also completely consistent with the source material.
