I now this is an old post but whatever. You should give Tales of the Abyss a chance. I didn't put much faith in it either, because, well, we know how rpg adaptations end up. However, it has been a pleasant surprise so far.

Hakushaku to yousei is actually pretty interesting so far, and it is not afflicted with sudden changes of heart or extreme density of characters if anything the change of heart happens because... Edgar (the lead guy) is like Tamaki he just knows how to win you over. Oh and of course there is a talking cat XD

I´ll be drooling over the Lucky Star OVA as well :)

as well as Chaos:Head and probably more stuff. I haven´t indulged myself in the comming season yet, having trouble finding any intrest to see how this season ends with Macross Frontier and Code Geass R2 just being terrible at the moment.

Wow, the autumn season doesn't sound too appealing at all, and the only series I've been looking forward too Sayonara Sensei is just an OVA. I too have been left in DESPAIR! Well good thing for me is I still got a couple of anime's to tide me over, Xam'd and Saiunkoku if it ever gets subbed XD. But then again Xam'd has SO MUCH going on but I dunno I guess I feel it still needs to explore its details more, I guess I'm not that hooked on it. Oh well you never know what anime's may turn out a hit I mean just look at Kaiba, I doubt anyone thought that to be good. There may be something good, if not least there are still some unfinished series left to watch.

Hanners: I was thinking of you when I wrote that, of course ;)

dejavu: Yeah, it's about this time of year that I have a lot of other stuff going on and stop caring about anime for a while- not helped by the underwhelming summer selection, some of which I ended up sticking with just for completion.

Hige: Sounds like a plan- I must not try certain series just in case they might be good! They never are!

God, seeing it all listed like that really drives home the mediocrity. I plan to cling to XamD and Tokyo Metal City and steel myself against the oncoming waves of shit.

The general feel of your comments seems eerily similar to my own feelings about the upcoming season. I guess you're also suffering from anime over-saturation/burn-out... I wouldn't necessarily claim that the current crop of shows is inherently worse than that of a few seasons ago, but for sure there's a huge amount of been-there-done-that feeling in them for me personally. I wasn't able to keep following even a single show this current season (even though I only started a few filtered out ones), and I don't expect that to change with these new shows. Except maybe with Tytania, if it manages to live up to either LOGH or Seikai.

I'll be one of those fanboys stirring over the Lucky Star OVA then. ;)

I was quite looking forward to Shikabane Hime, but I recently watched the trailer and felt a tidal wave of "meh" washing over me, so I'm not so sure now.

But more Zetsubou Sensei... What can I say? I'm most definitely *not* in despair about that one, I can't get enough of it.
