I found Kaiji to be a breath of fresh air, both in terms of presentation (namely the music and Gorrilaz-style artwork) and storyline. It took itself seriously but miraculously made the viewer take it seriously too - the ways in which the narrative whipped up the tension and suspense is unparalleled by anything I've seen recently.

The ending was a bit weak though, which I can attribute to the fact that the Tissue Box Raffle wasn't the best arc (E-card in contrast possibly was), which meant that an incomplete story (hopefully temporarily) ended on a bit of a whimper.

Overall I agree that it's been one of the most compelling shows of recent months - it's oddly enough not often that I say this but I was impatiently looking forward to each episode. We definitely need a second season of Zawa-zawas because I can't believe the Mulleted One's adventures can end here.
