Damn, I forgot to talk about the backtracking, which did annoy me until the Mermaid Springs opened up.

I can forgive the game being like Zelda, because Zelda has pretty much become the template for the genre- and yeah, the introduction was long but I did a Hollywood style narration for the benefit of my sister (don't ask) so that made it easier to deal with. I'm glad you can skip it in New Game+, though.

I find Okami nice on the eyes and all that, but I also think it suffers from the most pain ass "we want to make the game longer" thing along with Zelda: Backtracking. Having to run all over the place multiple times and visit places I´ve already been to more than once even to advance the storyline sometimes feels really irritating.

Visually, can´t complain on one thing, it looks great and plays even better.

Gameplay, kinda fun actually. But as said, you notice how much they´ve been looking at Zelda when they created this. Mazes that need you to walk to the very end of it to get a new item(brush technique) and then walk all the way back to the entrance, since that´s where the boss is...

I recomend this game, I really do recomend it since it´s fun and a lot of stuff to do. But then at the same time I just feel bored after some playtime. Don´t know why. Maybe I´ve played to much Disgaea to be happy to do backtracking and redo stages over and over again...

I had a bit of a laboured relationship with Okami. The over-long introduction annoyed me intensely, as did its liberal cribbing from the Zelda series, but the aesthetics are undeniably infatuating and it has many other strong points. Definitely not my favourite game of this type, though certainly worth a recommendation.
