Comments on: Autumn 2007 Preview, or Fall for you Yanks

Well I just put together a fall season preview myself so I’ll comment on series which I know about.

Moshiyamon is an educational program all about bacteria and fungi o.O.

From the 8 chapters that I read of the Neuro manga, it’s actually pretty good. It’s a very straightforward mystery series that is extremely groteque and just downright creepy. I guess it all depends on taste.

Shion no Ou is REALLY GOOD from the 8 chapters that I read. I haven’t ever touched Hikaru no Go but it has a whole lot of juicy character d0rama and the murder aspect makes it unique. The main lead is one of the best ever, in a way she reminds me of a mute Shuurei. Now we’ll just have to see if the studio makes any major changes like focusing all on Shogi (boooooring) or if they take out some of the questionable content (i.e. the gruesomeness of the murder, first monthly period, etc.)

Yeah well sorry for ranting on but I thought you might find that interesting ;).

Sasa: Sounds about right to me, I just hope Ghost Hound is more consistent.

Karry: Thing is, I’m not a big sports series fan, but there are exceptions. If I get time I might give the manga a look to get an idea of what it’s like.

manga: I read your post on the KnJ OVA, definitely not for me ;p. And don’t worry, Stargazer isn’t going to be watched.

setesh: Yeah, I’m sceptical about the whole Mushishi comparison, but I think it will be a fun series at the least. And yes, where is that Dennou Coil? I keep seeing raws for 14-15…

I seriously doubt Moyashimon could take on Mushishi. While I havn’t seen any screen shots of said series, Mushishi was just SO good i can’t possibly imagine how a series that follows similar lines could be better without feeling cheap. I saw a screen shot of GhostHound (here?) and thought the art style was really reminicent of S.E. Lain but I can’t remember what studio produced Lain, so I can’t say if there’s any connection floating around somewhere. To be honest, not many of these series seem very interesting. And WHERE is my dennou coil 14 sub? ;_:

Eh, not much I’m interested in this season. The only ones I’m going to check out are:

Kaiji: Apparently it’s focusing on more types of gambling than Akagi, which is good since even after watching 26 episodes Mahjong still confuses me.
Mokke: Looks like a fun, quiet slice of life with some supernatural mixed in.
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro: I’ve been reading it weekly for about a year and the manga is some crazy trippy stuff. I’m curious to see how Madhouse plans to adapt it.
Jyushin Enbu: This looks terribly boring and generic, but I’m a total masochist so I’ll probably at least watch a few episodes.

Must see Kodomo no Jikan :p
Just to see how far they take stuff. I´m having trouble sitting up straight when reading the manga since I´m laughing so damn hard, hopefully the anime will have the same effect.

Gundam 00
Well, new Gundam series, I´m a half gundam fan so must see. And Karura, don´t watch Stargazer, 3 eps, 10min episodes and they are just boring to see.

Macross Frontier
New Macross series? Haven´t seen any since Macross 7, which got me really hooked on Macross so also a must see :)

Otherwise, hopefully I´ll find time to take a look at all new series, atleast the first episode. Hopefully Prism Ark will have some good stuff with it.

Out of the series listed, only Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro seriously interests me, and even then it’s just visually; I’ve read the first chapter of the manga scanlated, and let’s just say it seems like the artist is a big fan of Hieronymus Bosch :P

Some of the other series – Shion no Ou, Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji, Moyashimon, Mokke – do sound vaguely nice and shall probably be checked out, Moonlight Mile shall be watched just to see if the plot actually goes somewhere, and the Sketchbook manga wasn’t half bad for yet another 4koma of high school kids and their silly antics, but there’s nothing here I’d be really looking forward to.

i just looked at the fall previews… looks like im only picking up one show: moonlight mile second season. all the others look like loli/moe crap. why is moonlight mile good?? because there are no kids, no brats, no loli, no moe, no superpowers, no annoying characters, no overly optimistic boys. its a show with all adults for adults with an adult story.

To hell with the Morning Mist, whatever it is. Bamboo Blade is a true sports title, only with moe girls. Actually its going to be rather good, if they stick to the manga.

Heh, I didn’t like Air much (except for Kannbi no Mikoto) but loved Kanon (actually re-watching it now)…goes to show that everyone’s tastes are different, I guess. From what I’ve read, Clannad tries to be even more of a tear-jerker than Air–I think I’ll be steering clear of it, but if you loved Air you might like it.

Harr, have to defend moonlight mile, scifi and political elements are great. Also looking forward to Kaiji and that board game story.
