Any gamers who frequent this blog will more than likely be familiar with the Shadow Hearts series of games, but not so many will be aware that those games also have a prequel- a PSOne RPG named Koudelka. Ironically intended to be a breakout game that would revitalise the apparently stagnant RPG genre, the finished product was a game so poor that the lucky ones were those who had indeed never played or even heard of it.

At the Personality Plant, Professor Shimizu is in charge of implanting the robot named Suzu with the memories and personality of a deceased boy named Ogura Ryou, all so that his parents can have a replacement for their lost son. Ironically enough, however, Shimizu’s own daughter suffers from a disease that causes her to slowly but steadily lose her own memories. When Suzu wanders into Hotori’s home, a friendship starts building between these two lonely children- one of who faces turning into someone he is not, and another who faces losing everything that makes her who she is.

Writers’ meeting to discuss Iroha finale

It’s been a few months now, but the ridiculousness of the Iroha finale has caused it to cycle back into the limelight as we try to imagine just what was going through the writers’ heads as they plotted out the last few episodes.

Head Writer: Okay guys, we’ve got to finish up this series about the Lord’s Head- any ideas?

Writer 1: Well, why don’t we stall for time by including cameos of lots of historical characters?

As Mai- threatens to become a mega-franchise to rival the greats, we learn that Zwei is not the end, but merely the beginning of a spate of spin-offs and cash-ins that could last until we are all old and grey. Hello and welcome to another edition of Sunday News Bites! This week, we are joined in the newsroom by fat cat Mikoto, who we can communicate with by means of a special translator. Trust me, she makes more sense than some of the guests we’ve had on here.

Mai-Otome S.ifl- that’s Zero to you and me
Can’t get enough of Mai-Otome? Then you’ll be happy to know that now that everyone’s favourite OVA, Zwei, has concluded, we’re going to be treated to the all-new Mai-Otome S.ifl (previously known as Mai-Otome 0), a prequel story featuring Rena, young John Smith, blonde Maria and the five Pillars of the era- as well as what looks like appearances from the two starring characters of Mai-HiME Destiny. I know it will probably be senseless, confusing and lacking in any real plot, but due to the cursed destiny that ties me to Otome, I feel compelled to try it out.
