Sure, those mini-games were irritating and still so rewarding once you complete the mission.

Yuffie was also nice character. Maybe I was so noob to think ninjas are actually cool and began to like her. Probably that.

I picked out Grandia for the initiative point battle system, Suikoden for the fun of collecting 108 characters and building a huge castle and Chrono for the ability to affect the timeline in Trigger, and the stamina points battle system in Cross. There are other games I enjoy more, like Star Ocean 2, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, .hack etc, but what I wanted to do was compare FF7 to games that were closer to the 'standard' RPG style instead of crossing into real time battles or tactical systems.

Shame on me but I replay ff7/8 (pc) in every year and still enjoy it. Grandia? Suikoden? Chrono? Come on... grandia always had good battles, but the endless dungeons..., I still haven't finished 3. Only played the last suikoden, but neither the story nor the battle system cought my attention. Chrono trigger was good, but not that good, cross had an army of useless characters to find and only a little gameplay in it.

Final Fantasy VII can be sort of comparable to something like DBZ. Yeah, it was actually quite noteworthy for its time, but it hasn't aged very well. But it still introduced many people to the world of RPGs (or anime), and hopefully those people will go on to find better things in that field.

I still thought FFVI was better. >.>
