It really brings out the quirkiness & dream-like surrealism that should be Jing's main strength. It also has more in the way of plot, at least insofar as it gives some backstory on Jing and the bird. If you haven't totally soured on the franchise, I would recommend giving it a shot. The OVA is worlds better than the TV series.
