Ibby: that was my least favourite episode too, and the one that caused me to mention the overly sentimental aspect of the series.

As Planetes is one of my favourite underrated shows, I’m glad someone took the time to review this great show. IMO I thoguht that the show was great, though I felt that the episode that dealt with the dead body that the debries crew picks up, was the weakest episode in the show.

Ah but it is aesthetically pleasing to others of us! Very much so! That’s aesthetics for you.

And interesting that you mention Twin Spica too – which shares a nearly identical astronaut training-exercise episode with Planetes.

The hardest thing I found about Planetes was the racist characterization of Haji – although eventually he was granted a third dimension -

At last, a series we can agree on…although I’m more of a Kurau than a SAC person. “Kurau!”, “Christmas!” (x20), yeah, you’ve got to love it.

Planetes, along with GitS SAC, is the best sci-fi anime ever. Period.
