Chevalier Alternative 14

Published by Karura under Le Chevalier d'Eon

D’Eon has always tried to control his desire to dress up in women’s clothing, but these days it’s becoming harder and harder to resist the lure of slipping into that surprisingly comfortable and well-fitting dress. Can d’Eon kick this new habit, or should he just accept this little idiosyncrasy of his?

D’Eon faces the dress that started him on the path of cross-dressing. Continue Reading »

Annual Round-Up: 2006

Published by Karura under Anime Appraisals

I can now exclusively reveal that the reason my blog is so HARD GAY is because I have Lui chained up in my basement.

As the days became depressingly short and winter tightened its grip upon the land, I had the great idea of summarising all the 2006 series I watched in one great ‘Annual Round-Up’; hardly an original idea since everyone likes to do it, but nonetheless a course I became determined to take. Little did I realise that such an innocent decision would lead to a massive fifteen page document that took over a month to compile; in fact, if I had any sense, I would take the lazy route of posting this over several days in order to avoid having to write anything else for a week or so. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on your perspective), I’d rather just include it all in one guide so that I can get on with writing newer and more interesting things to spice up the inevitably dull and grey January.

I shall also take this opportunity to thank necromancer, whose screencaps made many parody posts and Tuesday Rumble sections possible, as well as my blogging ‘sempai’, who can identify himself if he wishes.

For once, red is not for generally poor series, just for the ones I dropped before the end of their run (mostly because they were generally poor). Series in blue are my top picks for the year. Links lead to earlier reviews, rants and parodies of the series in question.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 34

Published by Karura under ROTK

I don’t know if you noticed, but these are chaotic times- so chaotic, in fact, that even the great and righteous Lord Liu Bei cannot handle it all. Never fear, however, for Liu Bei is about to meet the most HARD GAY man of the era- the legendary Zhuge Liang (Huge Wang).

Liu Bei apologises for asking for inconvenient HARD GAY from his guest. Continue Reading »

Weekly Round-Up: December 29th

Published by Karura under Weekly Round-Up

By virtue of recalling how dull a character Saber is, I’ve managed to get the need for Dark Saber and Maid Saber out of my system (not the one with the chair, the one that actually looks good), but unfortunately the figure wish list just keeps on growing. Aside from the expensive Feena which I’m still deliberating over, the current list includes the following (bear in mind that I have no idea who either of these characters are):

  • Shiki: I rarely see worthy male figures, but this one looks quite appealing, and it’s cheap enough to be seriously considered.
  • Saika: Quite expensive for what it is, but I love the hair, and the blue colour scheme will contrast nicely with Ignis and Hikaru.

Reviewed this week: Aria the Natural 18-19, Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto 7-8, Busou Renkin 11, Kanon 12, Keroro 74, MariMite OVA 1, Red Garden 11, ROTK 36, Rozen Maiden Ouverture

…and in manga: Hataraki Man 2, Mai-Otome vol 5, REC 23-5, SaiMono 5 Continue Reading »

Chevalier Alternative 13

Published by Karura under Le Chevalier d'Eon

The Russia arc is over, and that means it is time for the Four Musketeers to head to the home of tea-drinking HARD GAY men, better known as England. There they meet with French Ambassador Guercy, a man fond of boasting about his ‘Zhuge Liang’ (huge wang). Can Guercy win them over with tales of his impressive manhood?

D’Eon admits he has been having some doubts about HARD GAY. Continue Reading »

Mai-Otome: the manga

Published by Karura under Mai-Otome, Manga

I’ve never been stuck for things to write about Mai-Otome- indeed, some might even venture to claim that I have already said enough about it. Nonetheless, such claims are not enough to deter me, and so the time has come to turn my sights to the recently completed Otome manga.

As I wrote in an earlier rant, for a while I was wary of even starting the Otome manga; if it was to the anime what the HiME manga was to its respective anime, the horrors contained within could easily be too much for any sane mind to bear. Even so, as the weeks passed, the nagging curiosity that has led me into so many dark and dangerous places persuaded me to download the manga and give it a try. Continue Reading »

Chevalier Alternative: Episode 12

Published by Karura under Le Chevalier d'Eon

The Eye of Voronzoff commands you to provide us all with more Chevalier now!

Tired of waiting for the next episode of Chevalier to be subbed? Desperate to see what’s going to happen next, but don’t have the Japanese skills to sample the raws? Perhaps you’re just so tired of watching anime that you’d rather just read about it on a blog anyway. Either way, I can’t really help you; for a show like Chevalier, my command of Japanese is definitely nowhere near enough to enable me to grasp what’s going on. What I can do, however, is give the series the .hack//Roots treatment- by using raw screencaps sent to me from undisclosed sources, I can construct my own story.

If you like my usual style of Chevalier parody, however, don’t worry- I’ll be doing those just as soon as I have the necessary resources. Continue Reading »

Kagen no Tsuki

Published by Karura under Manga

Sent to hospital after a car accident, Hotaru dreams of a beautiful teenage girl with long hair; nothing remarkable, perhaps, except for the fact that upon leaving the hospital, she happens to encounter that exact same girl living in an otherwise abandoned house. When Hotaru takes her friends to meet the girl, however, she discovers that she is the only one who can even see her. Realising that the girl must be some kind of spirit, Hotaru and her friends resolve to help her, which will first entail finding out her true identity, and then locating the mysterious man named Adam that she claims to be waiting for…

Busou Renkin 11: Flashback Mode, Jealousy and Destiny

Published by Karura under Busou Renkin

You can’t be a villain of the fortnight without preparation- after all, who’s going to take you seriously if you don’t have a good back story to tell in Flashback Mode? Fortunately, the twins are more than prepared on that front, forcing Kazuki and Tokiko to stand still for over seven minutes and listen to their tragic past. They could have at least gone indoors…

Tuesday Rumble: December 26th

Published by Karura under Tuesday Rumble

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate computers? Having dug out my old printer in order to print some important documents, I discovered that the months of inactivity have rendered it unusable for anyone wanting to do more than printing blank pages. Having left everything to the last minute (and at this bank holiday filled time of year), this is more than a little problematic, but I swear that next time I will be more efficient.

Next week will diverge from the usual format to bring you a special New Year Rumble, complete with Annual Awards, Anime Rankings, and anything else I can think of before next Tuesday.

How to write a magical girl series Continue Reading »
