Sometimes the path of obtaining good artwork is one strewn with pain and sacrifice. For example, I dislike looking at H-scenes, but nonetheless when bj0rn uploaded the Yoake CG set, I decided to acquire it anyway, in the hopes of finding some good pictures that didn’t involve sex scenes. Luckily, amongst the 500+ pictures there were around 279 that didn’t involve Tatsuya partaking of whichever girl happened to be in the immediate vicinity, but in order to single them out, I had to sit through numerous pictures of him sleeping with underage girls and even his own family members.

Marie talks to her skull, Belle.
Marie: It seems that d’Eon is still unwilling to unleash the fully fury of his repressed passions. We must make him see the light, for only as a woman can he unlock the keys to the main plot.
Belle: If I help you, will you tell me who my mother is?
Marie: Well, I guess I might do by episode 24.
(Marie: This skull is so gullible- I can make her do whatever I want as long as I vaguely promise to find her mother some day.) Continue Reading »

Fifty years ago, an epic battle between good and evil shook the world, as destined Rave Master Shiba took on the evil force of Dark Bring. Unfortunately, his attempt to destroy Dark Bring resulted in Overdrive- a massive explosion that scattered the Rave stones all across the world. In the intervening time, Dark Bring’s power has fallen into the hands of the organisation known as Dark Bring, who ruthlessly use it to spread their power and influence across the world.
Having grown up on the peaceful Garage Island, young Haru Glory has no real reason to care about the events of the wider world- at least until both Shiba and Demon Card show up in his home town. After being drawn into their conflict, Haru discovers that Rave has chosen him as its new master; now, he must decide whether or not to accept his destiny and begin a perilous quest to recover the four missing Rave stones. The Four Musketeers hold a meeting. Teillagory polishes his ‘sword’.
Durand: Whilst off screen, I was able to discover some information about the evil Russian. He’ll be attending a meeting with a tailor at eight tonight.
Robin: You mean he’s going to work during Easter?
Durand: He’s an evil Russian- you can’t expect him to care about religious holidays.
Robin: Is this information reliable?
Durand: I got it straight from the script, so of course it is. Continue Reading »

Yes, I know I’ve been promising more posts on Ginga Nagareboshi Gin for a while, but ASD have just retranslated episode 1 with better subtitles, which I feel will reduce what little hilarity I was able to squeeze from the series. In short, I wasn’t able to see a good way to parody the series, and I don’t have the energy to write about it in any other capacity, so I’m afraid it has to go.

When I first started this blog, I promised that from time to time, I would write about my experiences with RPG Maker XP. Unfortunately, making an RPG is a lot more tedious than it sounds, so for the last few months there hasn’t been much motivation to work on one, let alone write about. At long last, however, I have decided to start posting about my work on “Mai-HiME: the RPG”, in the hopes that it will encourage me to finish the game.
The game is fairly simple as RPGs go, consisting of cutscenes that follow the TV series storyline, and set battles corresponding to the ones seen in the relevant episodes. There are no random battles or opportunities for the player to wander around by themselves, but since it’s made using the RPG Maker engine, I’m still calling it an RPG. Continue Reading »

Orleans and Saint-Germain watch as Callon is whipped.
Orleans: Since I am evil, I must punish my underlings accordingly.
Saint-Germain: Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have any other named underlings so we’ll have to send him out again. Callon, I will now raise your stats to level two.
Callon is levelled up. Continue Reading »

Our heroes are confronted by HARD YURI Gargoyles, who stand still and wave their weapons around.
Robin: Everyone, we need to equip our weapons before the enemy takes their turn!
D’Eon: I don’t know if I can attack these innocent victims. It might decrease my ‘upstanding moral values’ stat. Instead, let’s try to disable them without causing any lasting harm.
Teillagory: I’m not sure how much more harm can affect people with mercury dripping out of their bodies, but I’ll tone down my ‘swordplay’. Continue Reading »

If there’s one thing I’m not too keen on when watching fansubs, it’s mkv format. According to its proponents, mkv is new and ‘1337’ whilst avi is old and outdated, but the fact remains that mkv is a pain to play. The picture gets stuck, it uses up more CPU resources than I’m willing to give it (I like to run a lot of programs simultaneously), the softsubs can be problematic, and VLC media player doesn’t like them. I may get comments here telling me that mkv is good or to use a different media player, but that’s not going to stop me ranting about how annoying it can be.
