Le Chevalier d’Eon parody episode 8

Published by Karura under Le Chevalier d'Eon

Some jewel merchants offer their wares to Russian Empress Elizabeth.

Elizabeth: These jewels bore me. I have no intention of purchasing goods from characters as generic as you.

In a blatant stroke of irony, d’Eon’s party are attempting to enter the country by posing as jewellers. They are stopped by a border guard.

Guard: I’m afraid I need to have a look at your wares. Continue Reading »

Tuesday Rumble: October 31st

Published by Karura under Tuesday Rumble

A minor dilemma lies before me; I want to read the Good Witch of the West manga, but at the same time I am scared to invest in something that could turn out to be as bad as the anime (let’s just say ‘acquiring’ it doesn’t seem to be an option; even Tokyopop’s website doesn’t have a preview chapter). Therefore I am asking for opinions- is there anyone out there who knows if the manga is any good?

The Future of the Mai- Franchise Part Three: Mai-Shiitake
Remember that ‘special’ mushroom that Irina served up to Chie in episode nine of Mai-Otome? Not only was that the first indication that Sunrise were snacking on such mushrooms themselves, it was also a subtle hint as to where the series was planning to go next. Continue Reading »

Jyu-oh-sei parody episode 1

Published by Karura under Jyu-oh-sei

Thor and Rai run through the forest of planet Chimera, chased by nameless enemies.

Generics: Those look like main characters, the natural enemy of nameless generics! Kill them!

Rai falls over as they run.

(Thor: Damn Rai, always holding me back. Still, I suppose I’d better build up audience sympathy by pretending to like him.) Continue Reading »

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 26

Published by Karura under ROTK

Today on ROTK, we get a look into a life of the Great One, God on Earth, Zhuge Liang…through a clip show. Fortunately, a lot of the clips are from before I started blogging the series, so I can unashamedly use the screencaps.

It’s ironic that only a few weeks ago I jokingly said “these are chaotic times indeed.”

Weekly Round-Up: October 27th

Published by Karura under Weekly Round-Up

There’s going to be a bit of a parody break for the next few days; not just because of the Jyu-oh-sei HDTV incident, but because I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Mai-HiME RPG (despite a tendency for the victory music to play in unwanted places, episode three is generally going well). If you’re a parody fan, however, don’t worry, because they will be returning soon.

Due to a general apathy towards the series, I have yet to watch Keroro Gunso 62 and will be leaving that to next week. Also, there are some pretty big spoilers for the Tsubasa manga towards the end, so don’t read if you’re not up to date and want to maintain the element of surprise.

Reviewed this week: Aria the Natural 15-16, Asatte no Houkou 1-3, Ayakashi Ayashi 1, Bakumatsu 1, Busou Renkin 3, Chevalier 7, Code Geass 2, Death Note 3, Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas 3, Kanon 3, Keroro 61, Negima!? 3, ROTK 26-7, YoakeNa 3

…and in manga: Emma Bangaihen 1-3, Higurashi Onikakushi-hen 1, H&C 12, Otome 32, MariMite 20, Tsubasa 133, NHK 31, xxxHOLiC 9.7, YoakeNa 1, Haruhi Suzumiya novel 4.3 Continue Reading »

Published by Karura under Manga

Itsuki Kamiyama is interested in murders; in fact, some might say he has an unhealthy fascination with mutilation and death. Despite the somewhat bizarre nature of his hobby, however, he is able to find a kindred spirit in classmate Yoru Morino. Drawn together by their shared interest in the darker impulses of the human soul, Kamiyama and Yoru investigate the extreme lengths that some will go to in order to satisfy their cravings… Continue Reading »

Mai-HiME the RPG: Episode 2

Published by Karura under Mai-HiME: the RPG

Making an RPG is an arduous task. Before even opening RPG Maker, you may find yourself spending hours in a graphics program trying to make the perfect sprite, tileset, animation or battle graphic. Once that is complete, you have to load your game project and start making some area maps, all the while trying to ensure that they don’t look completely awful (map-making is an art, and I’m sad to say it’s one I seem to lack). After that comes event creation, in which it takes half a page of instructions just to get your party to walk across the map and talk to someone; with that in place, you can move onto battles, and the tedious task of deciding which monster to have, how strong they should be, what abilities everyone should have, and what items they should drop. Le Chevalier d’Eon parody episode 7

Published by Karura under Le Chevalier d'Eon

The Four Musketeers get in their carriage and depart for Russia. Robin thinks back to a conversation with the Queen.

Marie: The stolen Psalm of the King is a very powerful key item. Those who acquire it can become boss monsters.

The carriage continues onwards and passes a cannon firing range.

Teillagory: These cannons are certainly strong and HARD GAY, but I prefer the elegance of ‘swordsmanship’.

Durand: Whatever the ‘weapon’, it is no doubt that from now on they will be pointed at us, the main characters. Continue Reading »
